Five reasons to check out lunch at Rackhouse

Since it opened in March 2017, The Rackhouse Steaks & Spirits in downtown Gulfport has developed a reputation for excellent steaks, a huge variety of bourbons and interesting appetizers. But until recently, if you wanted to go there, it was open only at night. Then Sunday brunch was added, and now, you can enjoy lunch there.

Lunch is more affordable. Maybe you can’t swing a 10-ounce USDA Choice Center Cut Filet at $36, but a 5-ounce prime sirloin and a 5-ounce high choice hanger steak are both on the menu for $14. Other primo choices are the Tuna Stack Tacos ($13), Wild Mushroom and Steak Pasta ($12), Royal Red Alfredo ($11) and Royal Red Shrimp ($12), fried or broiled. Lunch specials come with your choice of salad or side.

The sides are special, too. They include Bacon Mac and Cheese, Steamed Asparagus, Parmesan Risotto, Fresh Herb Seasoned Potatoes, Matchstick Fries and Butternut Squash. For $1 extra you can get Creamed Spinach or Sauteed Wild Mushrooms as your side.

You can have a top-shelf Taco Tuesday. Does that Tuna Stack Taco sound familiar? It’s a taco take on the restaurant’s wildly popular Tuna and Crabmeat Stack appetizer. The tacos (three to an order) come in flour tortillas filled with harvest lettuce blend and yellowfin sashimi garnished with fresh avocado, Sriracha lime mayonnaise, Unagi sauce and sesame seeds. Lamb Tacos ($13) and Steak Tacos ($13). The lamb version is garnished with Greek pesto and goat cheese sour cream, and the steak tacos feature Chimichurri sauce and pickled onion. Yes, these orders include your choice of salad or side, too.

Lunch is available six days a week. If you can’t make it to downtown Gulfport during the week for lunch, Rackhouse offers lunch on Saturday, too. That means your friends are more likely to be able to join you, too.

The sandwiches. These come with your choice of salad or side, too. Cold Smoked Salmon ($14), Bacon and Cheese Steak Burger ($9), French Dip ($13), Chicken Club Croissant ($12) and Six-Cheese Bacon Grilled Cheese ($10) are among the options.

Of course, you can still order from the regular menu during lunch menu hours, too, which are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Hours: The lunch menu is served 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Sunday brunch is served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant’s hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
