Those great over stuffed raviolis are even better with a little fresh oregano, or even a pinch or two of Italian seasoning. Add a little good olive oil and you are home free. Serve with garlic-toasted French bread, and it is even better.
Another canned food that can be pretty good is corned beef. Now the good stuff is not inexpensive, but it is pretty easy to stretch.

Try boiling potatoes, when they are done (leave a little of the water on the pan) add a chopped up can of corned beef and serve on rice.
I know, it is a double starch, but what the heck, it sure is good. I also like to add a pinch of red pepper flakes and it is even better when the rice is garlic flavored.
