Messiah Chorus receives MAC grant
The Mississippi Gulf Coast Messiah Chorus has been awarded a $3,500 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission.
The grant will be used to fund the Messiah Chorus performances during the Chorus’ 66th year on the Gulf Coast.
December 1952 marked the beginning of what has become a musical tradition on the Mississippi Gulf Coast: the annual performances of George F. Handel’s oratorio, “The Messiah.”
The Gulf Coast Messiah Chrous singers and soloists are volunteers who love sharing their vocal talents and enjoy singing this demanding music.
What began so simply at Keesler Air Force Base 65 years ago, continues to be an inspiration to residents and visitors on the Mississippi Coast. The performances are free of charge and are scheduled during the Easter and Christmas seasons at numerous venues along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
