Crashes across South Mississippi claim four lives within 24 hours

The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to two separate car crashes Friday, which officials said claimed two lives.

In Jackson County, Highway Patrol spokesman Cpl. Benjamin Seibert said, troopers responded to one-car accident about 4:15 a.m. on U.S. 90. Seibert said a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Mark Wynbush, 38, of Mobile, was westbound on U.S. 90 a mile east of Mississippi 611 when the sedan entered the median and hit light pole. Wynbush was ejected.

Seibert said he died at the crash scene.

In Stone County, the driver of a 2003 Saturn was eastbound on Mississippi 26 about 2:30 p.m. when he swerved, over-corrected and hit a tree, Seibert said. That driver also died at the scene.

Stone County Coroner Wayne Flurry will release the identity of the driver after his next of kin is notified, Seibert said.

MHP had been called two area fatal wrecks Thursday, as well, less than 30 minutes apart from each other. Diane Fawcus Beith, 72, of Carriere, was killed in a head-on collision on Mississippi 53. Tyjuan Fairley, 17, of Lucedale, was killed in a one-car crash in George County.
