MS Coast casino buffets: Guide to which buffets are open, have crab legs, allow children

Before 2020 every Coast casino had a buffet and most or all of them included crab legs on the menu at no extra cost.

The pandemic changed everything. Four of the buffets at the 12 Coast casinos never returned after the coronavirus shutdown.

Some casinos did away with crab legs because of the high cost that pushes an all-you-can-eat feast with the crab legs near or over $50 per person.

Other casinos used the changing times to restrict their restaurants to those age 21 and older.

Casinos are still adapting, five years later.

With the price and availability of Dungeness crab legs making them unavailable at this time, Silver Slipper and Hollywood Casino Bay St. Louis continue to have snow crab and are substituting all-you-can-eat crawfish for the Dungeness crab, while the crawfish last.

Beau Rivage also has crawfish on the buffet on holidays and certain special events during the season.

With Boomtown Biloxi just announcing its popular buffet is returning, it’s time to look at the casino buffet offerings on the Coast.

Here is a guide to where to find buffets, crab legs and which casino buffets are open to children.

Buffets didn’t return

These casinos never brought back the buffet after the pandemic. Some, like Harrah’s Gulf Coast, have converted the space into new restaurants.

Only holidays and special events

Hard Rock Casino Biloxi had just remodeled and updated buffet when it had to close in 2020.

Instead of doing away with it completely, Hard Rock occasionally opens its buffet for a holiday or other event, as it will on Easter Sunday. Crab legs typically are available as an add-on to keep the base price down.

Serves crab legs

All-you-can-eat crab legs typically add $15-$20 to the cost of a buffet per person. At that price, casinos now typically have a server put a portion of crab clusters on the plate, instead of allowing customers to pile their plates high and not finish eating them. Customers can return if they want more.

These casinos have crab legs on their buffets:

Boomtown Biloxi — Biloxi Bay Buffet will return this spring, with crab legs

Hollywood Gulf Coast has all-you-can-eat crawfish and snow crab legs at dinner on Thursday and Friday, plus all day on Saturday and Sunday.

Silver Slipper has crab legs plus jumbo shrimp on the buffet Monday through Friday starting at 4 p.m. and all day Saturday and Sunday starting at 11 a.m.

Treasure Bay Casino has crab legs daily for lunch and dinner. Whole lobsters are included in the price every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Crawfish are on the dinner buffet daily while supplies last.
