Two chicken restaurants are opening soon in Biloxi and Ocean Springs. Here’s where
There’s one in D’Iberville, another in Gulfport and now a third location of Chicken Salad Chick will open this year in South Mississippi.
The sign went up this week for the new restaurant at the Anchored Strip Center under construction at 2107 Bienville Blvd., in Ocean Springs, That’s on the north side of U.S. 90, across from Bechtel Boulevard.
Sharing the shopping center will be HotWorx, NeoLife Physical Therapy & Wellness and Jernigan Chiropractic & Rehab.
Chicken Salad Chick is known for its more than a dozen flavors of fresh, made from scratch chicken and also pimento cheese.
Sharing the menu are a variety of garden and pasta salads, sides like macaroni and cheese and signature soups that change each day.
The new chicken melt — topped with chicken salad or pimento cheese with provolone on toasted on a croissant — is so popular it’s gone from a seasonal special to a permanent menu item, said businessman Hudson Sandefur.
He’s opening this Chicken Salad Chick with Bruce Ratcliffe, and it will be open will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
On opening day, Nov. 1, the first 100 people in line that day get free chicken salad once a month for a year and the first person in line gets free chicken salad every week for a year. Free gifts will be presented to the first 50 people in line Nov. 2-4.
They also have locations at The Promenade in D’Iberville and on U.S. 49 in Gulfport, and the Ocean Springs Chicken Salad Chick isn’t the only chicken restaurant under construction.
Sandefur also owns Zaxby’s restaurants in South Mississippi and Alabama. The latest to open on the Coast is on U.S. 90 in Ocean Springs and another is under construction in west Biloxi.
“We are set to open the Biloxi store on Pass Road the first week or two in December,” Sandefur said.
“It’s just a great market for restaurants,” Sandefur said, and the people in South Mississippi like restaurants.
He may have reached his quota of restaurants in Harrison County for now, he said, but they may have more coming.
“We certainly will be looking some more in Jackson County,” he said.
