Salad Station is opening a third restaurant on the Mississippi Coast. What to know.

A third Salad Station restaurant in South Mississippi will open soon on U.S. 90 in Ocean Springs.

The restaurant — where customers choose from more than 100 fresh toppings for their salad — will take over what was Wendy’s at 1407 Bienville Blvd., just east of the intersection of U.S. 90 and Washington Avenue.

The other two Salad Station restaurants are in D’Iberville and Gulfport.

It’s all about choice at the Salad Station. Customers select from several varieties of lettuce, then direct the staff how to build their “perfect” salad with fresh vegetables along with Buffalo chicken, shrimp, fruit, olive salad, cheese and their favorite from the 16 varieties of salad dressing.

Those on a diet and a budget will want to be selective in what they add to their salad bowl. Customers pay by the pound for their salad, which will be chopped to blend the lettuce and all those toppings if they choose.

For a soup and salad meal for dine in or take out, the restaurant features a hot bar and four soups every day. Customers are required to don clean gloves as they make their selections on this bar..

The restaurant also prepares its own varieties of lemonade.

The D’Iberville location of Salad Station was the 12th location in the restaurant chain that began in 2012 in Hammond, Louisiana. Now there are dozens across Louisiana and from Texas to Tampa, Florida.

Scott Henderson, founder and president, and his mother and business partner, Cindy Henderson, opened their first restaurant based on fresh ingredients.

Ocean Springs is home to more than 100 restaurants, and this new Salad Station is in a busy area of town already known for salads.

Its neighbor is Lancaster’s, home of “the original Sassy Salad,” topped with boiled Shrimp, cajun crawfish and jumbo lump crab. Nearby are McAllister’s Deli, Applebee’s and other restaurants that offer specialty salads.
