Restaurant News & Reviews

These are the best soul food restaurants & buffets on the MS Coast, according to Yelp

One of the Mississippi Coast’s best kept secrets is the soul food scene in the Gulfport-Biloxi metro.

From fried chicken and pork chops to greens to mac and cheese and homemade desserts, soul food buffets are wildly popular here and are considered hidden gems.

Many of the restaurants are Black owned and offer buffets, daily lunch specials and seafood.

Here’s a list of the top soul food restaurants on the Coast, according to Yelp.

  1. Big Daddy’s Soul Food, Gulfport
  2. Nana J’s Soulful Kitchen, Ocean Springs
  3. Miss Audrey’s Southern Kitchen & Catering, Gulfport
  4. Exclusive Dining and Catering, Biloxi
  5. McInnis’s 12-bone BBQ, Gulfport
  6. The Almanett Bistro, Guflport
  7. Tara’s Kitchen, Moss Point

Two fried chicken buffets, Cajun’s in Gulfport and Hartz in Ocean Springs, also made Yelp’s list and are popular among reviewers. The Coast voted Cajun’s as their favorite buffet in a very tight race. Both serve a variety of Southern side items, desserts and breads with their fried chicken.

Ms. Audrey is a staple on the Coast. She and her “kitchen bible” of recipes have been feeding diners and the needy for decades. She is known for her seafood dishes and macaroni and cheese.
