A popular local restaurant chain is giving new life to the El Agave building in Gulfport
A popular local restaurant chain is opening a new Mexican spot in the El Agave building.
El Saltillo announced on Facebook the opening of their new location at 2108 25th Avenue (Highway 49) in Gulfport. It should be open in about a month and a half.
El Agave owner Mercedes Carranza closed his popular restaurant near downtown last month, leaving many customers emotional over the decision. The restaurant’s Facebook post about closing reached over 1,000 likes, 500+ comments, and over 400 shares.
Jorge Flores, co-owner of the El Saltillo restaurant chain, said El Agave called him and asked to open in their place and he was open to doing so
El Saltillo has restaurants in Ocean Springs, Biloxi, Gulfport and Long Beach, and an additional location in Pascagoula is opening on October 17th.
Its popular dishes include California burritos, house margaritas and steak fajitas. Jorge Flores and his brother, Martin Flores, have been in business for over 20 years on the Mississippi Coast.
“We are grateful that the Mississippi Gulf Coast has allowed our family to be a part of its community, and likewise, we are exceedingly happy that the Mississippi Gulf Coast has become our home and a part of our family,” the Flores brothers told the Sun Herald.
