Waffle House is No. 1 restaurant in MS during COVID-19, report says. Here’s the top 5.

They’re a staple in every city on the Coast, and they’re always open, even in most hurricanes and a global pandemic.

And in Mississippi, the Waffle House is the most popular casual dining restaurant during COVID-19, according to a report from TOP Data.

The data site “wanted to see how some of America’s most popular casual dining chains are fairing in each state, as well as how sit down friendly restaurants are performing against their grab and go counterparts,” the report says.

Top Data says they analyzed consumer tracking data of visits to casual dining locations to form the lists of popular chain restaurants being visited in every state.

Here are the Top 5 in Mississippi:

  • Waffle House
  • Longhorn Steakhouse
  • Olive Garden
  • Chili’s
  • Cracker Barrel

There are dozens of Waffle House locations on the Coast, many still open during coronavirus and offering dine-in and to-go services. One of the busiest Waffle House locations in the U.S. is the restaurant across from the Beau Rivage casino in Biloxi.

There’s also a location past downtown Biloxi with an upscale look on the beachfront.

On average, casual dining in chain restaurants featured in the Top Data report have seen 58% less traffic during the COVID-19 pandemic.
