The South Mississippi natives are proud of where they come from. Get to know them before seeing them again on AGT with these fun facts.
Chapel Hart is made up of sisters Danica and Devynn Hart and their cousin, Trea Swindle.
“There are little girls in Poplarville, Mississippi who think this isn’t possible but we’re doing it,” said Devynn after their AGT audition.
Chapel Hart named the group after their Poplarville community, Harts Chapel.
“We’ve been trying to break into Nashville for the last couple years, but it’s been kind of hard when I think country music doesn’t always look like us,” said Danica on AGT.
Chapel Hart performed covers and tributes to the women of country at Scoreboard Bar & Grill in Nashville.
The group did a cover of “Just Say I Love you” by Little Texas and released a video in 2019.
Chapel Hart will debut at the Grand Ole’ Opry on Sept. 17, 2022.
The band won International Group of the Year and International Song of the Year in Scotland for their single, “You Can Have Him Jolene.”
The trio will perform at Dollywood’s Harvest Festival in Pigeon Forge on Oct. 2.
“You Can Have Him Jolene” was nominated for International Song of the Year and Chapel Hart earned a Group of the Year nomination at the 2021 BCMA Awards.
The group came up with the idea for “You Can Have Him Jolene” while on the set of one of their music videos. They were shooting a video for their Dolly Parton cover song, “9 to 5.” In the video, Devynn Hart wore a shirt that said, “You can have him” and was signed by Jolene. “Who does she think she is? You can’t take somebody’s man and then tell me I can have him,” Danica said. The group then decided to write their response to Jolene.
The video for “You Can Have Him Jolene” was filmed in Pass Christian.
Chapel Hart quarantined together and used the time to write their sophomore album, “The Girls are Back in Town.” Swindle told the British Country Music Association “It was like one of the most beautifully horrible, terribly wonderful experience.”
Because of all the music that came out of it, the group considered the quarantine a rebirth, “but it was a long laboring delivery,” said Devynn.
In “Jacqui’s Song,” the trio memorialized a dear friend killed at 28 when her tent was struck by lightning during the 2016 T-Bois Blues Festival in Larose, Louisiana.
The Chapel Hart singers are all more than 5’10” tall.
Swindle considers country music a lifestyle, like singing about their childhood.
Chapel Hart will be featured on the next Darius Rucker album.
In “Made for Me,” the group sings about graduating from Poplarville High School and working at Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home. The video featured Harts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors.
“Whenever Forever” from their “Out the Mud’‘ album is Chapel Hart’s best love song. Don’t argue with me. You know it’s true.
The group’s video for “Jesus & Alcohol” premiered in 2020.
Chapel Hart wrote “American Pride” during the pandemic and performed it this summer at the 2022 VFW National Convention in Kansas City.
Danica shared with VFW veterans that her grandma, who had 17 children and 108 grandchildren, inspired the patriotic song, “American Pride.”
The group filmed the video to their 2020 release, “Country Paradise” at Red Creek in Stone County.
Swindle says she was a rebel back in the day.
All group members agree, Danica is the biggest diva.
“R-e-s-p-e … you know the rest.” This ain’t no spelling test. I need some TLC” is a line from future Chapel Hart hit, “Tailgate Trophy.”
