‘Christmas in Mississippi’ won’t air again this year on Lifetime or Hallmark. How to watch.

If you think stores start the Christmas season early, you may not be surprised to learn Lifetime started its Countdown to Christmas in October.

So, while you were still decking the halls with bats and skeletons, the cable network slipped in the only scheduled Christmas movie filmed in Gulfport, “Christmas in Mississippi.” Lifetime’s holiday season started Oct. 7 with “The Holiday and Dear Christmas” and ramped up its holiday offerings last weekend with nearly two dozen movies, including “Christmas in Mississippi.”

“Christmas in Mississippi” was released in 2017. The 93-minute film tells the tale of a photographer (aptly named Holly) who returns to her hometown of Gulfport to help with the annual Christmas light show. Holly has second thoughts when she is forced to spend time with her high school sweetheart, who is organizing the event.

Jones Park, known on the Mississippi Gulf Coast as the location of the annual Gulfport Harbor Lights Festival, serves as a backdrop the Christmas light show in “Christmas in Mississippi.”

The film stars Jana Kramer, Wes Brown, Faith Ford and Barry Bostwick.

Lifetime may have no plans to re-run the movie this season, but there still are a couple of ways to catch a little hometown holiday pride. Rent or buy “Christmas in Mississippi” on Vudu or subscribe to Prime Video.
