Biloxi Shuckers activate Macias from DL; Shaw retires
The Milwaukee Brewers announced Wednesday that infielder Brandon Macias, 27, has been activated from the 7-day disabled list.
The corresponding move came as a bit of a surprise as 27-year-old infielder Nick Shaw opted to retire.
Macias is hitting .288 with seven doubles, two homers and nine RBIs in 34 games with Biloxi this season.
Shaw played six seasons in the Brewers' organization. A 25th round selection in 2010 out of Barry College, he had a .256 career batting average with seven homers and a .364 on-base percentage in 678 career games. Shaw hit .250 with four doubles, a triple, 14 RBIs and nine runs scored this season.
