Capital murder hearing in toddler's death re-set
HANCOCK COUNTY -- The preliminary hearing has been delayed in a capital murder case involving a toddler believed to have died of abuse.
Charles Connetti III, 25, is now set for a hearing June 7 in the slaying of his girlfriend's son.
Maddox Viergge was 16 months old. He died of traumatic head injuries just after midnight April 2.
Connetti's hearing had been set for Tuesday.
Hancock County sheriff's investigators have said Connetti caused the injuries while he was caring for the toddler.
Capital murder is a killing that occurs during another felony act. The underlying charge in this case is felony child abuse.
Connetti is held on a $1 million bond at the Hancock County jail. He has been in custody since April 5.
