BILOXI -- Police arrested a Wal-Mart employee Tuesday in the theft of more than $40,000 from the business.

Samantha Lynn Edwards, 29, faces a charge of embezzlement.

Police began investigating her after Wal-Mart security officers completed an internal investigation and found an employee had made fraudulent transactions. The evidence led to Edwards and revealed she stole more than $40,000, Investigator Grandver Everett said in a press release.

Edwards is being held in the Harrison County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
