Worker who died in crash may have had medical emergency
PASCAGOULA -- A man who died after the work truck he was driving crashed was a Pass Christian resident.
Christopher Dean Montiforte, 37, may not have died from Wednesday's crash, Jackson County Deputy Coroner Jason Moody said Thursday.
It wasn't clear if Montiforte had a medical emergency, but Moody said more will be known Friday following an autopsy.
Montiforte worked for Fletcher Construction at Ingalls Shipbuilding, Moody said.
Police reported the truck crashed about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.
It collided with a Dumpster and a building's support beam at a storage facility just north of the shipyard. Police said Ingalls medical personnel took Montiforte to Singing River Hospital, where he died.
The accident remains under investigation.
Moody said it appears the work truck did not crash into the Dumpster head-on, but hit it before coming to rest.
