Ole Miss football player says he has transferred to MTSU

Former Ole Miss running back I'Tavius Mathers announced on his Twitter account Thursday that he has transferred to Middle Tennessee State.

The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native will return to play college football in his hometown.

The junior played in 12 games last season for the Rebels in 2014, rushing 67 times for 306 yards and four scores. He led Ole Miss in rushing in 2013 with 563 yards and three touchdowns.

Mathers will have to sit out the 2015 season because of NCAA transfer rules. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
