East Central senior running back Nate Cohen put up tremendous numbers Friday night, running 40 times for 491 yards and five touchdowns in a 55-48 victory over Long Beach.
Early in the game, East Central head coach Seth Smith decided to keep feeding Cohen the ball.
“The offensive line played outstanding,” Smith said. “(Cohen) is healthy and running hard. He missed two games when he had an ankle injury against Hancock, but he's back to 100 percent.”
Sophomore Glenn Evans sealed the victory for East Central with a late interception.
East Central improved to 3-6 and 2-3. Long Beach drops to 1-7 and 1-4.
