Southern Miss lands junior college guard commitment
Southern Miss picked up a key addition Tuesday with Lorenzo Bonam giving his verbal commitment to new head coach Doc Sadler.
The 6-foot-4 guard picked the Golden Eagles over Utah, Bonam said.
Bonam, who was recruited by USM assistant Jeremy Cox, also received a scholarship offer from Utah.
Why did Bonam decide to settle on USM?
“How they play, just the environment,” Bonam said. “It's a good environment to be around.”
Bonam has been a scorer at every level he's played at, averaging 16.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game last year for Gillette.
He is a native of Instker, Mich., where he starred at Robichaud High School.
Bonam will likely slide between the two and three at Southern Miss.
“I prefer the three or two because I can score,” Bonam said.
Bonam said that Sadler left a nice impression in his visits with the former UTEP and Nebraska head coach.
“He made a good impression,” Bonam said. “He's a funny dude, good to be around.”
