SEC Network in space: Tennessee astronaut makes special request

Murfreesboro, Tenn., native Barry Wilmore won't be planted in front of his TV at home this football season like every other college football fan in the South.

Wilmore will be on his third space trip from September to March, and the astronaut was determined to make sure that wouldn't cost him the chance to watch big SEC games live this season.

Wilmore, 51, requested to get the SEC Network at the International Space Station and NASA met his demand, The Tennessean reports.

"I don't watch a lot of sports — my wife might not agree with that — but I do like to watch football, the SEC Game of the Week, and I try to catch Tech every chance I get," Wilmore said told The Tennessean.

Wilmore, a former Tennessee Tech linebacker, will also be watching his alma mater's football games on the internet.
