Fourty Niners Son, ridden by Garrett Gomez, ran a mile on the turf course in 2:03.74. The win was the first in a year for owner Tom Baxter's Kentucky homebred. Prospect Park finished third.
Maryfield takes Distaff at Aqueduct
Maryfield made a cross-country trip worthwhile with a 21/4-length victory yesterday in the $158,500 Distaff Breeders' Cup Handicap at Aqueduct. Trained in California by Doug O'Neill, Maryfield steadied on the turn before shaking loose in the stretch to post her seventh win in 24 starts.
