Salt Water Seminar Series comes to Biloxi March 5

The Saltwater Sportsman National Seminar Series will conclude its national tour in Biloxi on March 5.

The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the grand ballroom at the Golden Nugget Casino. Almost 300 tickets have been sold for the daylong event. George Poveromo -- host of "George Poveromo's World of Saltwater Fishing" on the NBC Sports Network, is the main speaker, along with captain Dave Lear. Both are contributing editors for "Saltwater Sportsman. " Two of the speakers are from the Coast: Captain Jay Trochesset and Captain Kenny Barhanovich. Other speakers are Louisiana-based offshore Captain Billy Wells, Mississippi Department of Marine Resources Marine Fisheries Scientist Jill Zednick, Captain Mike Goodwine, Captain Mike Frenette, Captain Scott Simpson, Captain Jeff Reid, Light tackle fishing pro Cindy Nguyen, and fishing legend Harry Vernon III.

Topics for the Biloxi seminar include: tricks for catching trophy cobia, successful sight fishing tactics for cobia; secrets of fishing behind the shrimp boats, how trout and redfish see and the importance of selecting the right lure, chunking for redfish, and locate and catch trophy tripletail. The cost for Series Seminar ticket is $55. The cost covers five hours of instruction from the best pros in the business, a course textbook, and a one-year subscription or extension to Salt Water Sportsman, bottle of Star brite Extreme Clean.

Poveromo is impressed with fishing in the Mississippi Coastal waters.

"The passion for fishing in this region of the Gulf is huge, whether it's inshore, coastal or offshore", Poveromo said. "I've fished these waters quite a bit over the years with Salt Water Sportsman, and shot several of my World of Saltwater Fishing television episodes in this region as well.
