Recreational fishing season for red snapper closes in Mississippi territorial waters on Saturday at 12:01 a.m., the Department of Marine Resources said in a press release today.
This coincides with the closing of red snapper season in federal waters. The last day to recreationally fish for red snapper is Friday and all recreationally caught red snapper must be landed no later than midnight.
The closing of the recreational red snapper season is issued under the authority of Section 49-15-15 (1) of the Mississippi Code of 1972.
