Sean Payton is staying with the New Orleans Saints.

Payton, who is coming off his ninth season as head coach of the Saints, announced Wednesday that he plans to remain in New Orleans.

"This is where I plan on coaching," Payton said. "I don't envision myself coaching any other club."

Payton is 87-57 as the head coach of the Saints, including the 2009 Super Bowl title.

The Saints are coming off back-to-back 7-9 seasons without playoff bids, but Payton was upbeat about the direction of the team Wednesday.

"I look forward to where we are going," he said. "I don't take for granted the leadership we have."
