The Saints reported on their web site this afternoon that they will play the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame game on Aug. 5 to kick off the 2012 season.
The NFL made the announcement about the matchup, which will be at 7 p.m. at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio, following the Hall of Fame inductions Saturday that will include retired Saints tackle Willie Roaf.
It will be the fifth appearance for the Saints in the Hall of Fame game and the first since 2007 when the Saints lost 20-7 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team has a 1-3 record in the Hall of Fame game.
Roaf, who was a first round draft pick of the Saints in 1993, played nine seasons with New Orleans and was an annual Pro Bowl selection at left tackle from 1994-2000, setting a franchise record with seven selections.
