Pelicans announce ‘16 summer league schedule
The NBA announced Tuesday the 2016 Samsung NBA Summer League schedule featuring 67 games in 11 days at the Thomas & Mack Center and COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
The Summer League includes three preliminary games for each team followed by a single-elimination tournament.
All teams are guaranteed to play at least five games. Teams will be seeded after the preliminary round with the top eight seeds receiving a first-round bye. The 24-team field consists of 11 playoff teams in the 2015-16 NBA season, 12 teams with draft lottery picks and an NBA Development League team.
The New Orleans Pelicans’ Summer League opener is July 8 against the Los Angeles Lakers, followed by games against the Utah Jazz on July 10 and the Sacramento Kings on July 11 before the single-elimination tournament.
All 67 games will be televised on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU or WatchESPN. The championship game is July 18 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
