The Milwaukee Brewers won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

The parent club of the Biloxi Shuckers announced a two-year extension with its Double-A affiliate Thursday morning.

The player development extension pushes the teams’ agreement through the 2020 season.

"We are extremely proud to announce the continuation of this partnership between the Brewers and Shuckers," Shuckers President Ken Young said in a release. "We have developed a great relationship with the Brewers over the past two years and the impact of the players and coaches on the field and in the community has been tremendous."

Biloxi has been one of the premier minor league teams over the last two seasons.

The Shuckers won the 2015 South Division Championship and advanced to the Southern League’s championship series in their debut on the Coast after relocating from Huntsville.

In their short time on the Coast, Shuckers fans have already seen the team produce a number of MLB players, including Michael Reed, Yadiel Rivera, Jacob Barnes, Yhonathan Barrios, Adrian Houser, Jorge Lopez and Tyler Wagner.

Two of the Brewers’ top prospects in Orlando Arcia and Brett Phillips have also called the Coast home.

"The Brewers and Shuckers have a great partnership, and we are excited about this extension," Brewers Farm Director Tom Flanagan said. "MGM Park is one of the premier ballparks in all of Minor League Baseball, and we look forward to playing there for years to come."

According to the release, the extension ensures Milwaukee will have had a Southern League affiliation for 21 seasons, dating back to the Huntsville Stars’ 1999 season.
