Brett Favre to throw out 1st pitch at Sunday's Shuckers game for breast cancer awareness
Brett Favre will throw out the first pitch at 1:10 p.m. on Sunday when the Biloxi Shuckers host the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at MGM Park in Biloxi.
The NFL and Southern Miss legend is making an appearance as part of Favre 4 Hope Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The day will benefit the Deanna Favre Breast Cancer Fund at Memorial Hospital.
There will be a raffle and a silent auction at the ballpark to benefit to the fund.
Brett Favre-signed items will be available in the silent auction, including - a 16x20 framed and signed Jets photo, a 16x20 framed and signed Vikings photo and a Southern Miss football helmet. Other items will also be available in the auction.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
Brett and Deanna Favre founded the Favre 4 Hope Foundation with a mission to support nonprofits providing support and services to disadvantaged and disabled children in Mississippi and Wisconsin. After Deanna completed her treatment for breast cancer in 2005, the mission was expanded to include agencies offering support to breast cancer patients.
Since 1995, the Favre 4 Hope Foundation has donated over $8 million to their charity partners. Those partners include Make A Wish, Special Olympics, Hope Haven, ARC, USM's Children's Center for Communications and Development and USM's Brett Favre Athletic Scholarship.
