Fans won't be limited to just the traditional ballpark cuisine when taking in Biloxi Shuckers games at MGM Park this season.
Far from it.
Sure, fans will be treated to traditional baseball staples such as hot dogs, nachos, barbecue, popcorn, peanuts, chicken tenders -- Shuck N' Cluck, anyone? -- and crackerjacks, but they can also expect many more items with Coast influences.
"That was very important to us," said Mike Brulatour, general manager of Spectra by Comcast Spectacor. "We are blessed to be down here on the Gulf Coast and the Gulf Coast's bounty is endless."
Brulatour said many of the items are Coast fresh, from the shrimp to the watermelons.
"It's important to feature local products," he said.
As should be obvious by now -- food at MGM Park should taste good, but the "punnier" it can be, the better.
A South Mississippi staple, the po-boy, will be key at the ballpark. Pearl's Po Boys offers roast beef, shrimp, fried oyster and more.
The Aw Shucks Gulf Grill has more Coast traditions, such as grilled oysters, shrimp remoulade, grilled boudin on a bun, Cajun sausage and bayou jambalaya, which is served in a souvenir helmet.
One of the new items Brulatour is most proud of is the triple play grilled cheese, which features three types of cheese on three slices of Texas toast and can be found at Foul Ball Franks.
The Shuckers are also offering a handful of "vegetarian friendly" options like the spicy black bean burger at the Beacon Grill, veggie quesadilla at the Shortstop Feista Grill, the junior veggie dog at Home Plate Hot Dogs and the fresh garden "shalad" at the Aw Shucks Gulf Grill.
The best deal, Brulatour said, can be found at Foul Ball Franks:
Thirsty? Fans 21-and-older can wash down their food at the Buena Vista Beer Garden, which features 24 craft beers on tap, including Abita, Lazy Magnolia, Biloxi Beach Blonde and Chandeleur.
As for something sweet, the Barq's Biloxi Creamery offers funnel cakes, ice cream and floats among other treats.
The Milwaukee Brewers' Double-A affiliate released a map Wednesday at BiloxiShuckers.com so fans can easily locate more than 80 menu items at the 17 different vendors and concession stands.
"We try to appeal to everybody," Brulatour said.
