Milwaukee Brewers' Craig Counsell updates Matt Garza's status
Prior to Saturday's exhibition between the Milwaukee Brewers and Double-A affiliate Biloxi, manager Craig Counsell updated the status of Matt Garza.
The Milwaukee right-hander was pulled from Friday's game at Houston after 3 1/3 innings due to right shoulder tightness.
"Today is kind of his recovery day. We won't know much today," Counsell said. "He'll progress as normal. We have some dates to play with so we can push him back if we have to. Sunday will be his bullpen day and we'll probably have more information after that. We'll know more tomorrow."
Garza made six starts this spring, Garza made six starts this spring, posting a 4.50 ERA in 22 innings. He struck out 14 against 12 walks.
Garza was 6-14 last season.
Wily Peralta is slated to start Milwaukee's season opener Monday against the San Francisco Giants.
