The Biloxi Shuckers announced Friday they have hired Chuck Arnold to take over as the team's general manager.

Arnold, who will begin Jan. 4, comes to the Shuckers after serving two years as sales director for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. He was recently promoted to vice president of sales at Pensacola, which is the Southern League affiliate of the Reds.

Arnold replaces Buck Rogers, who stepped down last month from the Biloxi general manager position.

Arnold oversaw the entire sales department, including corporate advertising sales, season ticket and group sales. He set sales records for ad sales and group sales both seasons.

"Chuck is a rising star in the game of baseball and brings a high level of knowledge and enthusiasm to this organization," Biloxi team president Ken Young said in a press release. "We have a talented staff in place for the 2016 season and Chuck will be at the forefront to lead the group and give our fans the greatest experience possible."

Prior to joining the Blue Wahoos, Arnold spent eight years as general manager of the Johnson City (Tenn.) Cardinals, Appalachian League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Prior to his time as GM, he was the assistant GM for the Johnson City club for two seasons and had a brief stint as an assistant baseball coach at King University. Chuck has also served as an adjunct instructor of sports marketing at Milligan College.

A native of East Tennessee, Arnold attended Milligan College where he earned a bachelor's degree in human performance and exercise science and was also a member of the baseball team. Following his time at Milligan, Arnold attended East Tennessee State University and received a master's degree in Sports and Leisure Management.

"I am excited and honored to be able to lead this great group of people and be a part of the community," Arnold said. "I want to thank Ken Young and John Traub (vice president) for giving me this tremendous opportunity. We are going to place customer service as our top priority and I am determined to build on the foundation that was laid during the historic first season at MGM Park."

Rogers was announced Friday as the senior director of ticket sales for Lancaster (Calif.) Jethawks.

The JetHawks are a High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. Lancaster is northeast of Los Angeles.
