BILOXI - It was a Father’s Day washout at MGM Park for the Biloxi Shuckers Sunday night. With an estimated 5,000-plus people in attendance, the Shuckers' series final with the Montgomery Biscuits was called due to rain and lightning with neither team taking the field.
Dark clouds moved over the park shortly after the gates opened at 6 p.m. With lightning on the horizon, the infield was cpvered in a tarp at approximately 6:30. Shuckers officials initially said the rain delay would only be about an hour later than the scheduled first pitch at 7:10 p.m.
The tarp was rolled off for a few minutes but it was brought back and the game was officially called around 8 p.m.
Sunday’s rainout was the first for the Shuckers since they began playing in their home stadium June 6. A spokesperson for the Shuckers said the game will not be rescheduled.
