Petal's Stephon Huderson had three touchdowns of 36 yards or more as the Panthers handed George County its first loss of the season, 42-30, Friday night.
Huderson, a senior running back who is committed to Tulane, had a pair of 43-yard touchdown receptions from quarterback Tanner Estill and a 36-yard touchdown run.
“Petal is a real good football team,” George County coach Matt Caldwell said. “They did what Petal does and ran the football really well on us. Offensively, we fell into penalty and turnover mode in the first half. That got us in a real big hole. I told you last week that we can't do that against Petal. We ended up losing because of it. We've got to do a better job of getting them prepared. It's my job to do that. Our kids played hard to the end. We just had too many mistakes.”
George County senior quarterback LaRaymond Spivery again had a productive night, throwing for two touchdowns and running for two more.
