The Biloxi Indians came close a week ago to earning their first win of the young 2016 season but let a close game against Tate, Florida, slip away late.
The Indians (1-2) made sure the same thing didn’t happen again Friday, holding on for an 18-10 win at Northshore (La.).
Biloxi actually fell behind early 7-0 but got on the scoreboard late in the second quarter on a 30-yard touchdown strike from Tucker Thomas to Tim Jones.
“(Jones) just smoked the defender on that fade,” BHS coach Bobby Hall said.
Biloxi tacked on a successful two-point conversion pass to Noah Griffith to edge ahead 8-7.
Tyler Price returned an interception 35 yards late in the first half to push Biloxi’s advantage to 15-7. Kicker Kevin Martinez converted a field goal in the fourth quarter to complete the Indians’ scoring.
The Indians travel to Gautier next Friday.
