In one of Moss Point’s biggest regular season victories in quite some time, it was senior running back Omni Wells who set the place for the Tigers on offense.
Wells ran 30 times for 140 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown, to lead the Tigers on offense in an 18-13 win over Pascagoula in the season opener at War Memorial Stadium. He put up those numbers despite battling through cramps in the second half and that’s why he’s the Sun Herald Offensive Player of the Week.
When Moss Point gained a second half lead, it was up to Wells to grind down the clock. Wells also pitched in on special teams with several punts that helped keep Pascagoula in check.
