Prep volleyball and softball roundup: OLA rallies past East Central

After dropping the first set, Our Lady Academy rallied to defeat East Central 3-1 (23-25, 25-7, 25-17, 25-17) in high school volleyball on Thursday.

Emma Funk had a match-high 28 kills, Alia Tayara registered 17 kills and Rebecca Walk chipped in 10 kills.

Carsen Cuevas had a team-high 18 service points with three aces. Hannah Gest and Olivia Gelpi had 28 and 11 assists, respectively, for OLA (5-1).

Blake Leviner was a main contributor for ECHS (6-2) with three aces, nine kills and two blocks. Alexis Laughlin registered 19 assists and McKall Holder made 11 digs.

OLA travels to Ocean Springs on Tuesday and will host Hancock on Wednesday for a special “Pink Out” match. ECHS travels to HCHS on Tuesday.

Gulfport def. Bay 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-22): Jaden Bishop led GHS (3-0) with 10 service points, four kills and 18 assists.

Vancleave def. Harrison Central 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-15): Carly Danley led VHS (11-2) with nine kills.

Paige Davis contributed 13 assists, 17 service points and four aces. Sydney Salter and Paige Davis each recorded seven digs.

Oak Grove def. Ocean Springs 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-16): Amelia Moore and Chloe Coulter led OSHS (3-4) with six and five kills, respectively. Peyton Emperley and Abby Murrell had 10 and seven assists, respectively.

Other score: Pass Christian (5-4) defeated D’Iberville 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-8).

Slow-pitch softball

Harrison Central 7, D’Iberville 1: Amari Ramsey led HCHS (2-0) with a double, a three-run homer and four RBIs.

Moss Point 4, Biloxi 3: Moss Point scored three runs in the seventh to top BHS (0-1). Elizabeth Polk led BHS with two hits and three RBIs.
