Gulfport, East Central volleyball pick up big wins

Gulfport defeated D’Iberville in three sets Tuesday 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-12). Ally Woodberry led the Lady Admirals (2-0) with nine kills. Nikki Hankins registered 10 points and Jaden Bishop led GHS with 10 assists. GHS hosts Bay on Thursday.

East Central def. St. Martin 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-10): Whitley Tanner led ECHS with seven aces Tuesday. Blake Leviner had a game-high 11 kills, while Madison Pearson recorded 10. Alexis Laughlin led ECHS with 23 assists. McKall Holder registered 14 digs.

Ocean Springs def. Harrison Central 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 26-24) : Dougless St. Amant and Amelia Moore each had 10 kills. Chloe Coulter contributed nine kills and a team-high nine aces. St. Amant also led OSHS (3-3) with 10 digs. Abby Murrell and Peyton Emperley had 17 and 15 assists respectively. OSHS hosts Oak Grove on Thursday.

Bay def. St. Patrick 3-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-20, 25-18): Shannon Kirkpatrick led St. Patrick with 19 service points, including 10 aces. Mary Tubb chipped in 16 service points and five aces for the Lady Irish.

Slow-pitch softball

Harrison Central 13, Moss Point 1: Amari Ramsey led HCHS (1-0) in its slow-pitch season debut, going 4-for-4 with two triples, four RBIs and two runs scored. Desirea Lindsey, Kayla Smith and Janyiah Pittman each had two hits. Lindsey and Pittman both drove in a run, while Smith hit a double. HCHS is back on the field Saturday at Forrest County AHS.
