Long-time Bay High athletic director Will Seymour has decided to resign his position, he told the Sun Herald on Monday.
Seymour is a 1990 Bay High graduate who has served as the school’s director of athletics since 2008.
Seymour said that he made the decision in order to pursue opportunities outside of athletics.
In a statement, Seymour said he experienced “Tiger Pride” through many perspectives, as a student, parent, teacher, coach, administrator and AD. Seymour asked to extend his appreciation “for the support of the community and the district throughout his career.”
During Seymour’s tenure, Bay High won state championships in boys basketball (2010), boys soccer (2012) and girls basketball (2013).
Seymour’s father, Wilmer “Wimpy” Seymour, previously served as Bay AD for 30 years.
The move comes about a week after Bay-Waveland Superintendent Rebecca Ladner resigned.
The Sea Coast Echo first reported Seymour’s resignation.
