OLA, Vancleave each win three games in Set It Off Tournament

Our Lady Academy and Vancleave participated in the Set It Off Tournament on Saturday in Jackson.

The Crescents and Bulldogs each won three of four games.

OLA beat Madison St. Joseph 25-1, 25-9, Lewisburg 25-17, 17-25, 15-13, and Clinton 25-15, 25-16. Oak Grove beat OLA 16-25, 23-25 in the quarterfinals.

Vancleave beat Ridgeland 25-13, 25-9, Starkville 25-20, 25-13, Clinton 25-8, 25-19. The Bulldogs lost to Presbyterian Christian 22-25, 16-25.

Leading the way for OLA was Emma Funk with 57 kills, 19 points, six digs and seven blocks. Hannah Gest had 52 assists and 31 points. Alia Tayara added 23 kills and 33 points. Rebecca Walk had 14 kills. Olivia Gelpi had 21 assists. Carsen Cuevas had 18 points for the Crescents (3-1).

OLA has won a Mississippi record 11 state volleyball championships.

Leading the way for Vancleave in the daylong tournament were Carly Danley with 20 kills. Cheyenne Strickland added 18 kills, Sierra Buxton finished with 20 digs. Sydney Salter had a game-high 43 service points, Paige Davis added 30 assists.

Vancleave (10-1) will host OLA at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
