SSC’s Knight commits to PRCC; Biloxi’s Johnson transfers to MGCCC

Two Coast baseball standouts are on the move.

St. Stanislaus’ Levi Knight recently committed to play baseball at Pearl River Community College, according to SSC coach Mark Logan. He’s the second Rockachaw to commit to new PRCC coach Michael Avalon, joining Magruder O’Bannon.

As a junior, Knight was a two-way threat for the Rocks, hitting .383 with 25 RBIs in addition to a 7-3 record, 1.41 ERA and 55 strikeouts on the mound.

Former Biloxi High standout Blake Johnson has opted to transfer from Southwest Mississippi Community College to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Johnson was 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA in 13 1/3 innings at the junior college level last season. He struck out 14 against nine walks.

Johnson was a driving force behind Biloxi’s late-season surge in 2014, posting a 7-4 record and a 2.27 ERA with 61 strikeouts in 80 1/3 innings.
