A former D’Iberville football star who had been headed to play at the University of Texas-San Antonio turned himself in to D’Iberville police on Monday in connection with several felonies in Florida.

It was his second felony arrest this year.

Jaquelle Christopher Green, 18, of D’Iberville, was wanted by the Pensacola Police Department on four counts of armed robbery, four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of wearing a mask in the commission of a felony.

Green, who was a standout football player at D’Iberville and signed with Texas-San Antonio in February before his previous arrest in March, was arrested at the D’Iberville Police Station just before noon, Capt. Marty Griffin said.

Green was taken to the Harrison County jail and his bail set at $510,000 bond. He was booked on a hold for Pensacola authorities, pending an initial appearance and extradition to Florida.

Monday’s arrest is the latest run-in with the law for the former football star. In March, Green was arrested along with three others in connection to the robbery of a pizza delivery driver at gunpoint.

Green was originally pulled over on Lamey Bridge Road about 10:30 p.m. after an officer noticed his vehicle was being driven erratically and without headlights, Griffin said.

During the traffic stop, Griffin said, officers received a call about a pizza-delivery driver being robbed after a delivery in the River's Edge Subdivision.

Green was charged with armed robbery. Griffin said at the time no one was injured and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.

Green caught the attention of college recruiters at an early age. At one time, Alabama, LSU, Georgia and others were all after Green. He eventually committed to Louisville during his senior season before eventually signing with UTSA.

Showing his versatility on the field, Green played a number of positions for the Warriors during his career, including quarterback in 2015. After throwing for 1,234 yards, rushing for 1,459 more and accounting for 31 touchdowns — and recording 26 tackles with two interceptions — Green earned a spot on the Sun Herald’s All-South Mississippi Football team.

After Green’s March arrest, new UTSA coach Frank Wilson said he was “aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering information.” Since then, Wilson has not publicly addressed Green’s status with the Roadrunners.

Pensacola police say the charges stem from an investigation launched June 22. They declined to comment further.

UTSA spokesman Kyle M. Stephens told the Sun Herald the football program and Green parted ways in May.
