The last two Sun Herald Players of the Year in boys basketball will play at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC next season, the school announced on Monday.
West Harrison product Harvey Smart, who played at Itawamba CC last season, and St. Martin senior Stacee St. Julian were among six players announced as MGCCC's latest group of signees.
Provine forward E.J. Galloway, McComb forward Qua'Darius Green, St. Martin forward Jonte Moultrie and Pass Christian forward Jaylen Peters were the other signees for the Bulldogs.
Smart, a 6-foot-3 guard, averaged 16.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in his senior season at West Harrison, helping the team make its first trip to Jackson. He averaged 3.8 points and 1.7 rebounds last year at Itawamba.
The 6-foot-1 St. Julian averaged 22.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals at St. Martin this year.
Galloway, a 6-7 forward, played at Provine and was selected for the 2015 Mississippi Association of Coaches North/South All-Star Game.
Darius Green, a 6-7 small forward/shooting guard, played at McComb and was selected for the Mississippi Association of Coaches Mississippi-Alabama Basketball Classic. He averaged 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds as a senior.
Moultrie, a 6-3 forward, played at St. Martin, where he averaged 7.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals as a senior.
Peters, a 6-3 forward, played at St. Martin, where he averaged 13.9 points and 6.6 rebounds as a senior. He was named to the 2016 Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Team and was on the All-Region 8-4A team.
