George County topped West Harrison 8-2 on the baseball diamond Thursday. The game was meant as a warmup for the playoffs as both teams have first-round byes. Brandon Parker hit a two-run homer for WHHS (20-6, 7-2).
Next level Yellow Jacket: St. Martin High School senior Josselyn Hernandez signed with Southwest Community College to play soccer. At Southwest, she will play either forward or midfielder.

HCHS sweeps Alma Bryant (Ala.): Harrison Central swept Alma Bryant, Ala., Wednesday night at Harrison Central, 7-0 and 11-1. Madison Burge struck out 13 and gave up one hit in the opener. Simone McKinney led the Red Rebelettes at the plate with two hits, including a triple and scored twice. Jhericka Strickland added a triple, while Burge and Kayla Cade added RBI singles. In Game 2, Kristen Cade struck out nine batters and gave up two hits in five innings, while Juli Evans struck out two in one inning of work. Desirea Lindsey, Shelby Thacker, and Daijah Richardson all added two hits each. Lindsey added a triple and Richardson added a double.
St. Patrick win Division 8-3A meet: The Fighting Irish won the Division title on Wednesday at Grand Bear. Christopher Diaz was the low medalist, shooting 74.
