Coast roundup: Gruich's blast helps St. Martin softball remain undefeated in region

St. Martin (15-7) concluded its region play Tuesday with a perfect 6-0 record after defeating George County 4-0. South Alabama signee Katelyn Gruich hit a solo homer in the win.

Rebecca Anderson (13-3) earned the win with nine strikeouts.

East Central 12, FCAHS 0: East Central improved to 15-6, 7-2 with the lopsided win.

Pass Christian 7, East Central 3: PCHS (12-8) scored four runs in the first and tacked on three more in the seventh to edge ECHS. Amber Funderburk had three singles and a homer. Morgan Funderburk tallied a single and double. Randi Jenkins had two hits. Amber Funderburk earned the win to improve to 12-4. She also struck out three.

Baseball

Biloxi Shuckers 4, Pensacola Blue Wahoos3: Nick Ramirez gave Biloxi (9-3) a late boost in the seventh with an RBI-single that scored Brett Phillips. Jed Bradley (1-0) got the win in relief, striking out two in a scoreless frame. Jaye Chapman struck out one in a perfect ninth to earn his fifth save.)

St. Stanislaus 8, Bay High 0: Levi Knight gave up three hits and struck out eight in six scoreless innings to pick up the win Monday. Brendan Logan, Nick Hertz and Knight each had a pair of hits for the Rockachaws (14-7, 7-3). The Rockachaws are the two seed in Region 8-4A.

Track & field

7-6A track roundup: Gulfport hosted the 7-6A track meet Monday. Gulfport took first in the girls standings with 95.5 points, followed by Harrison Central (68), Biloxi (58.5) and Hancock (33). Biloxi totaled 130 points for first, followed by Gulfport (91), Harrison Central (48) and Hancock (3).
