Prep roundup: St. Martin claims Lady Admiral Invitational

St. Julian signs with Gulf Coast C.C.

St. Martin's girls golf team took home first place out of 15 teams at Tuesday's Lady Admiral Invitational with a score of 86.

Sydney Cato shot a 46, Jordan Wescovich shot a 40 and Lindsey Wescovich shot a 47 to lead the Lady Yellow Jackets. OLA team placed second out. Callee Breland was the low medalist with a 37. Katie Albright shot a 53 and Gabby Zimmerman shot a 61 for a team total of 90.

Breland and Wescovich were joined by D'Iberville's Hannah Levi (38) on the All-Tournament team.

Basketball

Two sign JUCO pacts: Gulfport's Carl Terrell and St. Martin's Stacee St. Julian signed basketball scholarships Tuesday with Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College respectively. St. Julian averaged 22.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists this season. Terrell averaged 6.9 points with 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

Softball

St. Martin 9, George County 2: St. Martin (10-6, 4-0) picked up an impressive team win Tuesday. Katelynn Carcich and Renee Foerg each had two hits and two RBIs. Katelyn Gruich had a single, double and two RBIs, Deona Morgan and Rebecca Anderson each tallied two hits, and Emily Stansbury had a single and three RBIs. Anderson also improved to 8-2, striking out six in the complete game effort.

Biloxi 3, Gulfport 1: Carlie Vice hit a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday to break a 1-1 tie for the Lady Indians (9-6-1, 2-2). Christine Marsland led BHS with three hits. Sydney Cannette also had an RBI. Olivia Holley improved to 8-5, allowing one unearned run with four strikeouts.

Pass Christian 12, Vancleave 2: Amber Funderburk (10-4) picked up the win for Pass Christian (10-7) on Monday, striking out 14 against four hits. Brooke Jackson and Avion Swanier each recorded three singles. Randi Jenkins and Brooke Roach each tallied a single and a double.

East Central 9, George County 3: Ilyssa Easton earned the win Monday for East Central (12-5). Casey Duncan hit a two-run homer and also had a double. Ramee Taylor mashed a three-run homer as well.

D'Iberville 4, Pearl River Central 2: Emilee Conway and Saige Herbert each drove in a run for DHS (3-11). Magnolia Keller struck out nine in a complete game effort.

St. Patrick 12, Faith Academy 3: Anna D'Aquilla picked up her 12th win for St. Patrick (21-0), striking out two. Elizabeth Zorich was 3-for-3 with five RBIs and a grand slam. Raylen Blackwell hit a solo homer. Morgan McCrea, Marissa Hanley and Olivia Allen each had two hits. Anna Grace Castanedo had two hits and three RBIs.

Baseball

Ocean Springs 6, St. Martin 0: Drew Windham improved to 2-5 on the year Tuesday, striking out five Yellow Jackets. Britt McKay led OSHS (15-7, 4-5) with a double and three RBIs. Gavin Beaugez had a single, double and RBI.

West Harrison 9, Gautier 5: Kasey Donaldson earned a complete game win for West Harrison (19-3, 6-1) on Monday, striking out seven against three hits. Tate Parker recorded three hits, including an RBI-triple. Tyler Van Norman had three hits with a two-run double. Colby Cagle had a double and two RBIs. Brandon Triplett had two hits and Ephraim Patton had two RBIs.
