PREP ROUNDUP: Moss Point baseball stuns East Central

Moss Point picked up one of the biggest upsets of the season in a 5-4 win over the Hornets in Hurley.

Darren Alford picked up the win on the pitcher's mound. LaNas Torrey and Datorious Booker both had a pair of hits for the Tigers (2-16, 2-7). Reis Trager went 3-for-4 for East Central with a pair of doubles while Blake Duvall took the loss.

West Harrison 9, Gautier 5: Kasey Donaldson threw a complete game, allowing just three hits to get the win for the West Harrison baseball team. Tate Parker and Tyler Van Norman each had three hits for the Hurricanes (19-3, 6-1).

D'Iberville 4, Pearl River Central 2: Emilee Conway and Saige Hebert each drove in a run for the Lady Warriors' softball team. Magnolia Keller pitched a complete game with strikeouts for the win.

East Central 9, George County 3: Casey Duncan hit a 2-run homer and a double as East Central improved to 12-5 Monday night. Ramee Taylor also added a 3-run homer for the Lady Hornets.

Pass Christian 12, Vancleave 2: The Lady Pirates pounded out 12 hits as they improved to 10-8 and 6-1 in Region 8-4A. Caleigh Ball, Brooke Jackson and Brooke Roach each had two hits for Pass Christian.

SSC/OLA tennis: The St. Stanislaus/OLA tennis team competed in the individual district 8-4A tournament at Pass Christian on Monday.

James Estrada won boys singles. Claire Escher and Grace Nicaud won girls doubles. Mitchell Walk and Madison Wawrek won mixed doubles. Thomas Healy and Jacob Estrada were doubles runner-up as were Paige Palazzo and Laura Grace Ritten.

The Rocks and Crescents finished the regular season 10-2 and will host Northeast Jones at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the first round of the playoffs.

Individual tournament champions and runners-up advance to the state tournament in Oxford, May 9-11.
