Harrison Central's Harris, Zorich of St. Patrick are Sun Herald Players of the Week
Harrison Central hurler Jordan Harris and the sweet-swinging Elizabeth Zorich of St. Patrick are the Sun Herald Players of the Week.
Harris is the Boys Player of the Week after throwing 10 scoreless innings in a 1-0 win over Gulfport that lasted 12 innings. Dillon Morgan hit a walk-off homer to clinch the victory for the Red Rebels and Clay Counts picked up the win on the mound.
Harris, who is 4-1 this season, struck out four, walked only one and gave up four hits.
Harris has proven accurate all season, striking out 26 and walking just four in 40 1/3 innings. The junior has an ERA of 1.39.
St. Patrick went 8-0 last week and Zorich played a big role in the dominating week for the Irish.
Zorich was 14-of-16 at the plate with 17 RBIs during the week as the No. 1 Irish improved to 20-0.
The senior is batting .550 with 36 RBIs and currently has a 20-game hitting streak.
