Morgan Redmond improved to 4-0 on the pitcher's rubber with one hit allowed and six strikeouts in the St. Patrick softball team's 16-1 win at West Marion Wednesday.
Raven Blackwell was 4-for-4 at the plate for St. Patrick (9-0, 2-0) and Emma Rae Castanedo was 3-for-4 with three doubles and 5 RBIs. Anna D'Aquilla added three RBIs for the Irish.
D'Iberville 7, Biloxi 4: Peyton Warren (2-1) picked up the baseball victory for the Warriors. Nathan Yennie had three hits and scored two runs for D'Iberville. Luther Woullard, Andrew Bird and Hunter White each added an RBI for the Warriors. Austin Creel took the loss on the mound for Biloxi. Chase Lott and Lane Colson, who had a double and an RBI, each had two hits for Biloxi. Tucker Thomas had a two-run single for the Indians.
D'Iberville improves its record to 8-3 with a 4-0 district record. Biloxi falls to 6-6, 2-2.
Bay High 9, Pass Christian 3: Gage Kiser (3-0) threw a complete game to earn the baseball win for the Tigers (8-3, 4-0). He struck out eight batters in seven innings. Kiser also had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and two RBIs.
East Central 9, St. Stanislaus 7: Logan Walters hit a 3-run homer and knocked in five runs as the East Central baseball team (6-5, 3-1) earned a road win. Colin Danley was the winning pitcher and Blake Duvall earned the save. Reis Trager was 2-for-3, Jacob Vick was 3-for-5 and Brad Cumbest was 2-for-4 for the Hornets.
Long Beach 1, Pascagoula 0: Dylan Collins threw a shutout in the baseball win, allowing two hits and striking out five Wednesday. Collins is 4-1. LBHS is 6-5 and 2-0 in the region.
Ocean Springs 3, Hancock 0: Cooper Brune threw a four-hit complete game to pick up the baseball win.
MGCCC baseball sweeps: Mississippi Gulf Coast CC picked up an 8-5 and 6-5 sweep of Hinds CC in a doubleheader at MGM Park. Brian Lane went 2-for-4 and knocked in three runs in the first game and Chris Crosby picked up the win on the mound.
MGCCC still No. 2: The Mississippi Gulf Coast CC softball team retained its No. 2 spot in the latest Marucci NJCAA Division II Softball Rankings.
The Lady Bulldogs (25-3, 9-3 MACJC) are being led at the plate by shortstop Lexie Mathis, who is tied for second in the Division II with 12 home runs and tied for third with 44 RBI.
