Dustin Davis tossed a no-hitter Tuesday night to lift the Bay High Tigers past Vancleave 3-1. Davis struck out eight in eight innings. Bay High (5-3, 1-0) was led at the plate by Addison Goscinski's two hits.
Harrison Central 1, Ocean Springs 0: No. 4 Harrison Central nipped No. 1 Ocean Springs in a matchup between two of the Coast's top baseball teams Tuesday night. D'Artangnan Hawthorne scored Brendan Hardy in the third inning on a double. Jordan Harris earned the win for HCHS.
Long Beach 8, Wayne County 6: Clayton Maxwell and Colton Tillman each had two hits with three and four RBIs respectively. Starting pitcher Josh Borzik, Charlie Wescovich and Maxwell each hit doubles. Dylan Collins picked up the win for LBHS (3-4) in relief, striking out three in three innings.
D'Iberville 3, Gulfport 2: Andrew Bird earned the win for No. 7 DHS (4-3, 1-0)and also drove in a run with a single. He also struck out seven in seven innings. The Warriors led 3-0 after six innings, but No. 2 Gulfport scored twice in the seventh to make it close. Gulfport's Alex Nelms struck out seven in a losing effort. The Admirals also committed five errors.
Stone 14, Picayune 4: Tristan Parker (3-1) struck out five to earn the win. Mason Hunt led the Tomcats (5-4, 1-0) with three hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Preston Stringer and Truitt Smith both had two hits and two RBIs. Miles Allison hit a triple.
St. Stanislaus 5, Moss Point 0: Levi Knight struck out nine against one hit to improve to 2-1 on the season. Magruder O'Bannon led SSC (3-4, 1-0) with two hits, while Luke Bradley hit a double and Brendan Logan registered an RBI.
East Central 7, Pass Christian 4: DY Hall (1-1) struck out six for ECHS (2-4, 1-0). Josh Avila went 2-for-3 and Will Garriga talled a two-RBI triple for the Hornets. Friday's rematch has been bumped up to Wednesday due to the threat of rain.
OLA sweeps East Marion: Our Lady Academy swept East Marion with a pair of shutout victories Monday in Bay St. Louis, 13-0 and 12-0. Dallas Blaker combined to throw 12 shutout innings in the doubleheader. She struck out 12 in 7 innings in the first win and gave up just one hit while striking out seven in 5 innings in the second game. Blaker had four hits, including three doubles, and knocked in four runs in the first game. Abby Koons also had four hits in the first game and her sister, Grace, had three hits and 4 RBIs. Grace Koons had a pair of RBIs while Abby Koons and Carsen Cuevas each had a pair of hits. OLA is 3-3 and 2-0 in district play.
Hancock 4, Ocean Springs 3: Kaylan Ladner picked up the win, striking out 14. Brooke Fagan tallied two hits and scored the walk-off run for Hancock (6-2). Ladner also hit a solo homer.
St. Patrick 13, George County 3: No. 1 St. Patrick (7-0) combined for 16 hits on Tuesday. Raylen Blackwell led her team with a three-run homer and finished with four RBIs. Morgan McCrea also hit a solo homer. Emma Rae Castanedo was 3-for-3 with two doubles, while Raven Blackwell, Elizabeth Zorich and Marissa Hanley each had two hits. Raven Blackwell and Zorich tallied doubles. Anna D'Aquilla improved to 4-0 on the season, striking out seven.
Vancleave 4, Moss Point 3: The Vancleave softball team topped Moss Point 4-3 Monday with Gracie Barnett pitching all seven innings for the Lady Bulldogs (3-5).
PRC sweeps doubleheader: Pearl River Central bested Gulfport 5-2 and 4-0 on Tuesday night.
Stone 4, Biloxi 3: Olivia Holley fell to 5-1, striking out seven in the complete game effort. Carlie Vice and Christine Marsland each had two hits for BHS (5-2-1).
East Central 6 Vancleave 2: Madie Sparks picked up the win to improve to 4-0 for No. 7 East Central (5-2, 1-0) on Tuesday. Kayla Collins went 4-for-4 on the night.
