West Harrison's Cagle, Williams named Sun Herald Players of the Week

A pair of West Harrison standouts are this week's Sun Herald Players of the Week.

West Harrison senior baseball player Dylan Cagle is the Boys Player of the Week and West Harrison senior basketball player Ameshya Williams is the Girls Player of the Week.

Williams had 22 points and 20 rebounds in West Harrison's 53-39 win over Hattiesburg in the Class 5A semifinals to earn a spot in the championship contest.

Despite suffering an ankle injury in the second quarter of the championship game, Williams had another big game on Friday in the 58-43 loss to Holmes County Central. She finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds after scoring 14 points in the first half.

Williams, a Mississippi State commit, averaged 24.8 points and 14.3 rebounds this season.

Cagle put in 5 scoreless innings on the pitcher's mound last week in a 7-0 win over Moss Point.

He walked seven and walked two while allowing three hits in picking up the victory over the Tigers.

Cagle is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA this season for West Harrison, which is 5-2.
